These pictures were from earlier in the winter, but it was just as cold this weekend in March. As cute as they look all bundled up and rosy cheeked, I think it's safe to say that everyone is ready to welcome spring.
Poor Poppy, Soren, and Tyler have been hit with the flu. As I type this, I can only hope that I can somehow avoid it, although I have my doubts. We have only one bathroom in our house, and while I've gone through a bottle of disinfectant spray and have started in on another... the germs just seem to be lingering. I wish we could open the windows!
Most of the weekend has been spent in bed, on the couch, or cleaning up after the sickies. The kids had rallied bit by today, so I took them to see Ballerina. It was very cute. Originally, a friend had asked Poppy and I to join her and her daughter, but when Soren got wind of the plans he wanted to be included too. The two of them are such good friends these days. They really seem to enjoy each others company, and will spend hours playing together at home.
I've surprised myself by reading a handful of books already this year. I used to love reading, but since having kids I have not had a lot of time for it. I find it to be such a relaxing way to end the day, much more so than watching something on Netflix. A couple recommendations I have are When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi, and Before the Fall by Noah Hawley.
This week we have the infamous Parent Teacher interviews, which are always fun. I love hearing about our kids from someone else's point of view. It will be a short week, with the kids having friday off. I've made our favourite Veggie Burgers for dinner, which yields lots of leftovers for weekday lunches. I've also got the ingredients to make a big batch of cauliflower lentil soup, and maybe some banana chocolate chip muffins. If we don't prep properly at the beginning of the week, usually Sundays, the whole week can get away from me. Enjoy the rest of your week-end!
