Every morning, my alarm goes off just after 6am. If I have the energy, I untangle myself from the two little babes who are snuggled up next to me, and quietly sneak out of bed. I've gotten into a nice routine of walking the dog at this hour, and it's a great way to start the day. Returning home at 6:45, I quickly get myself dressed and ready, followed by Soren and Poppy.
We like to be down in the kitchen by about 7:10 or 7:15. I make a cup of coffee as I prepare their breakfasts, usually a rotation of toasted bagels, cereal, or oatmeal. By 7:30ish we need to be getting ready to leave for the bus. In these fall days it's much easier to get out of the house - no big boots, scarves, or snow pants - but I'm sure that's coming soon.
The bus stop is about a five minute walk from our house, but the kids usually run! While it would be convenient to have the bus stop right in front of our house, it's kind of nice to walk through our neighbourhood and see what's happening. The bus has been really late all year - like 20 minutes! - but the kids could care less. And of course today it was perfectly on time, requiring an all out sprint to make it.
By 8, I am hopefully on my way to work, and Tyler is dropping Poppy off at her school which doesn't open until 8:15. And those are our mornings! Busy and full... but full of love too. Oh my gosh - I had to check out last year's first day of school and it's amazing how much the kids have grown.
