After waking up in Calgary and enjoying a delicious breakfast with my brother and sister, we headed for the mountains. The rockies look spectacular as you drive up to them, especially after we had spent two days driving across the prairies. Wanting to stretch our legs, we decided to stop at Lake Louise for a little walk.
You can't see the lake on the drive in, and the rain had started and it was a little foggy. We parked the car and made our way through the throngs of people towards the lake, not really knowing what to expect. The first site is truly breath-taking. The water is such an amazing colour, and the mountains behind were covered in snow. And the people! There were people lined up ten deep to get a shot next to the water. It was crazy! These images look so serene - and it was in a way, but it was also kind of like a parade. Watching people's reactions to seeing the lake was pretty special.
We hiked up the mountain a bit before figuring we needed to keep on trucking, but Lake Louise had stolen our hearts. Tyler and I are excitedly planning a short ski-vacation in the winter. Fingers crossed we can make it happen.
The last two photos were taken at a cute little roadside dairy farm. Soren is apparently petrified of farm animals (we did have some knowledge of this beforehand), so he stayed away from the cows. Poppy loved them, of course. As she loved the chickens, the pigs, the birds, and anything else that moves. We all loved the chocolate milk - me preferring the glass bottle to the actual drink. It made the trek home with us, and I know will sport flowers for years to come.
