On one of our last days on the Sunshine Coast, we decided to pick up some food and have a picnic at the beautiful Persephone Brewing Farm. We'd been before, but hadn't brought a picnic, and were super excited to spend a lazy afternoon in the sun drinking beer. After selecting some meats, cheeses, and other snacks, we were disappointed to realize that they were closed on mondays. As Soren says 'they need some time off to be with their families'. (We've taught him well!)
With our stomachs rumbling we needed a plan b, so we set out for Cliff Gilker Park. After sneaking a couple of beers in with our picnic stuff, we ate a leisurely dinner and set out for some very easy hiking. Extremely easy. As this was our second time to the park, Soren was much more enthusiastic and led the way. He tends to do better if he knows what to expect. We climbed some rocks, watched the waterfalls, and basked in the early evening sunshine. For some reason a certain round belly likes to photobomb pictures these days…
I'll admit that I am not the best with changed circumstances. If I have it in my head that we are doing something, and then I can't, well, I don't exactly take it in stride. I'm not sure what my problem is, exactly, but I know it's something I need to work on. Sometimes the 'plan b's' are even better than the originals, and I need to be flexible enough not to ruin the mood for the rest of our crew. Little ones pick up on mood changes very, very quickly I have learned, and life's too short to dwell on missed opportunities.
