My sugar addiction
Last week I did something drastic - I cut out sugar from my diet. To some, this might not seem like the biggest deal. But as a person who would eat muffins, cookies, and chocolate on a daily basis; it's been a major change.
After I had Soren I lost weight quickly and easily. With Poppy, it's been more of a struggle. I am currently at my pre-pregnancy weight, but my body is far from what I would like it to be. After Christmas I started working out again, going to Barre classes and a mom and baby spin class. I was feeling my body getting stronger, but knew I had to change my diet if I wanted to see results. I saw a whole bunch of bloggers and instagramers talking about the 'Whole30 Challenge', so I finally looked up what it was. Basically, the idea is to eat whole foods - nothing processed - as well as eliminating dairy, wheat, and added sugar from your diet.
I'm not following the Whole30 challenge properly, but I am reducing my dairy and wheat consumption, and attempting to cut out added sugar completely. I have not had any major cravings for sugar, but I haven't exactly been feeling amazing. I've been more tired and irritable than normal, and I've been sleeping worse. It's been a solid week of these new diet changes, and my energy over the last couple days has picked up a little.
It's been fun to add more veggies into my diet, and yesterday I got Soren to drink a spinach infused smoothie - which is honestly the only vegetable he has eaten in months. I don't have a specific goal in mind in terms of weight, I would just like my jeans to fit properly without any added lumps and bumps. So, there will likely not be many baking posts for awhile as I take a hiatus from sugar, flour, and butter. I'm hoping my summer body will thank me for it:)
