A birthday for our best guy
We braved the frigid temperatures to head out for dinner on Saturday night, to the place where Tyler and I met a hundred years ago (or eight… feels like forever!). It was fun to get out without the babes, and nice to see some of our friends. While I liked working in the restaurant industry, it's great to be on the other side of the table now, and I remember the stress of working busy saturday nights like it was yesterday.
Today I got up early and prepared a delicious carrot cake to celebrate Tyler's birthday. We had both of our families over for coffee and cake, and all of us crammed into our little house to watch him blow out the candles. Soren helped with the candle blowing, obviously. He then exclaimed 'is it time to eat the icing?!' No need for the actual cake, I suppose.
Soren's behaviour has been slightly better over the past few days. I know everything is a phase, but when we're in the middle of a terrible one the days can feel LONG. We have a few exciting things coming up this week; swimming lessons one day and pre-school on another. There is a very small pre-school in our neighbourhood that has a friday morning class for two and a half year olds. I called last week and was happy to hear they had a spot available, so we'll see how that goes. Two hours seems like the perfect amount of time for him to be away from me, and it will be nice to meet some other families in our neighbourhood.
