Easiest winter decoration

11/20/2013

This morning, or rather last night, Soren came down with a cough and slight fever. We were planning to go to a playgroup today, but the plans had to be changed when I realized he needed some rest and relaxation. As I was cuddled up on the couch with both babies, I decided to try and make a little Christmas/winter decoration I had been meaning to try.

This year I want to try and decorate in a natural / Scandinavian style. Simple, white, rustic… shouldn't be hard to do, right? A quick trip out yesterday had me re-thinking my plans when I didn't see anything close to what I had in mind.

I originally was going to make a simple pom-pom garland, but then decided to hang the pom-poms from a spray-painted stick instead. I watched this tutorial on how to make simple yarn pom-poms and got started. From start to finish this probably took me half an hour. You could easily do it faster if you didn't have two kids on your lap:) I really like how it turned out, and I won't mind throwing it away next year if it doesn't hold up, or my design style changes.

I love the simplicity of it - especially hanging off a branch. Looking forward to seeing what else you decorate with, Scandinavian style!

Hope Soren is feeling better soon too, flu season is the worst :(
