'A portrait of my child, once a week, every week for 2013' - 52 project

My darling boy has turned a corner this past week. He's much happier, calmer, and pleasant to be around. Very different from last week. He has a re-kindled love of books, and he has taken to reading them to himself. When I put him down for a nap over the weekend he asked for his alligator baby book, and as I listened from the hallway I could hear him reciting the words to himself.

We are much calmer too. Today was the first day for our new childcare arrangement, which includes a nanny, grandparents, and alternated shortened work weeks for Tyler and I. It was amazing to have someone arrive at our house this morning armed with lots of energy and bubbles to play with. While Soren had only met her once, he was pretty ok with mommy and daddy heading to work. He feels safe and secure in his home, and I'm so thankful that he gets to spend his days here, surrounded by things he loves. It was a far cry from the last two months of torturous mornings of screaming and crying, which would start as soon as he learned he had to go to daycare. By the time we arrived he would be hysterical, and would have to be physically pried from my arms. It makes me anxious just thinking about it, and I have no doubt in my mind that we made the right decision to pull him out.

I am very much looking forward to a calmer few months - as October will be here before I know it and the craziness of a newborn will be thrown upon us. I can handle that type of craziness:)

He is so sweet. I'm glad he's calmed down lately and that he's settling into the new arrangement for you.
