26/52 - A two year old update

'A portrait of my child, once per week, every week in 2013' - with Jodi and the 52 project.

So, this isn't a portrait of Soren by himself, but there is something completely natural about this picture that I really like. We were at the Farmer's Market this morning, and while this shot was taken we were navigating the crowds to select some organic oatmeal - which was put into raspberry-peach muffins that are now cooling on the counter.

Two is a funny age. We ventured out last night to purchase 'big boy underwear; which we made a huge deal of. I'm not sure when we are going to embark on full potty-training, but we're getting there. He's not all that interested, and I don't want to push it. From what I hear 24 months is still pretty young for boys to be potty-trained, but it would be nice to get him out of diapers before the new babe arrives so we will see.

Soren is into playing rough these days which is a little bit of a problem at daycare. He likes to 'tickle tickle' the other kids, run into them, jump on them, etc. Not all kids enjoy this sort of play so we are trying to learn how to be gentler. The rough play continues on his own at times, as he likes to throw his toys and delights in smashing down towers of blocks once he gets them all lined up.

On the other hand, he was just dying to help me bake muffins. 'Mommy I mix! I help! I'll get my chair!' he cried as soon as we walked through the door. The dude forgets nothing, so when I had casually remarked that oatmeal would be good for muffins earlier, he remembered. Some days are more trying than others, and we are constantly learning more and more about how to be good parents (we hope!).

Love it - you both look so relaxed! It's amazing what they remember isn't it, even at this young age - Ollie is forever reminding me of things I said!
