My best baking partner

1/24/2013

On Saturday morning we awoke to the typical minus thirty temperatures, and decided not to go out to the bakery. Instead, we brewed a big pot of coffee and got started baking a cake. (The finished product looked like this.) I absolutely love baking with my littlest helper. He seems to like it too, as he watches intently as I slowly add ingredients to the bowl, crack eggs, or turn on the mixer.

When I was pregnant I envisioned having a girl - for no particular reason other than that is what I knew (being a girl of course!). I imagined dressing up a little girl in pink, playing dolls, having tea parties, and making crafts. I couldn't really see myself doing 'boy' things such as playing with trucks, rough-housing, or visiting the fire station. Little did I know!

Since having a boy I have tried not to gender stereo-type. I've found that he's interested in a wide variety of activities, and so am I! I never realized how much fun it would be to make a 'road' on the coffee table to drive cars through, or build a skyscraper tower out of blocks. Luckily, he also loves to bake, to draw, to have tea parties, and play pretend with his stuffed animals. And he looks just oh-so-cute in his little apron!!

Oh my goodness your son is so adorable! It's great that you do all of these non-stereotypical things with him. Maybe he'll grow up to be a great chef one day =)

By the way I was stopping by to let you know I've nominated you for the blog Leibster award. I hope you have a chance to check it out!

He is so sweet in that apron!! Gotta love a boy who bakes with his momma ;)

I was the opposite of you and completely envisioned myself with a boy and all the outdoor stuff we would do, sports, toys, action movies. I'm not even that into boy stuff! haha I just had that "feeling" like I would be a boy mom. Not so much apparently, now it's all bows and glitter in my life. Crazy how things work out ;)

Hi! Found you on the mommy mixer today. I too am finding new things to love about boys. I never thought I'd know the proper names of construction equipment or dinosaurs!
