On Saturday night I hosted a dinner party in honour of a friend who is having her first baby next month. There were 14 lovely ladies in attendance, plus three more who came for dessert. I like entertaining, but I was a little nervous about hosting for so many people on my own. I was also afraid we would not all fit in my dining room! Luckily, it turned out well.
I didn't want this to be a traditional shower, but rather a sophisticated evening of good food and wine - plus some really cute baby things! Instead of cards, all of the girls brought a copy of their favourite children's book and signed the inside cover. We pooled together to purchase a newborn photo shoot for after the little one arrives.
For dinner I made two different types of vegetarian lasagnas - which were made the day before and cut down on the day-of stress. I raided my mother-in-laws for decor items, and my friend made these lovely white vases (spray-painted wine bottles). We had a really fun night, and it was a good reminder of how enjoyable girls nights are.
